You ask, we answer
So, is this a bar? A library? A bookstore? What is The Reading Room, exactly?
First and foremost, The Reading Room is a reading lounge. The Room was established as a place for readers to comfortably enjoy their reading materials.
We want the community to see The Reading Room as a third space where they can get away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, at least for an hour or two. It is a space to enjoy reading materials of all kinds (books, newspapers, magazines, etc.) and is also a gathering spot for small groups to socialize.
What are your hours?
The Reading Room is open from 10 am to 10 pm daily.
Can I bring my computer to work or study?
Of course. We ask that customers keep in mind the intention of The Reading Room and respect the atmosphere so that other customers can fully enjoy their reading materials. The Reading Room is not a good spot for those who need to be on frequent calls or meetings.
Please take all calls outside so as not to disturb the other patrons.
Do you allow pets?
We can accommodate service animals. However, we do not allow pets in The Reading Room.
Is there an age limit?
No, there is no age limit at The Reading Room. No matter a patron’s age, we ask that everyone be mindful of the space’s intention and try to maintain a comfortable environment for the enjoyment of books.
Can I talk? Do I have to whisper?
The Reading Room is not a library. There is an expectation that there will be conversation, especially with groups of two or more. Conversation is encouraged while keeping in mind maintaining a space comfortable for the enjoyment of books.
What is the food like?
We offer quick preparation food, such as a cheese plate, fruit plate, veggie plate, olive plate, and dessert plate. Each is portioned individually but can be scaled for a group. We also offer medium plates (two savory options) and large plates (three savory options).
Do you have gluten-free options?
Most of our food options are gluten-free. We can replace the crackers with a gluten-free option upon request.
What is available for people who do not drink alcohol?
We understand that readers come from all kind of backgrounds and preferences. Our menu is curated to accommodate as many of these preferences as we possible.
Please view our menu to browse our mocktails, lattes, coffee, tea, and other offerings.
